Student Data Privacy

Regional School District 13 is committed to protecting student data and privacy. We operate in accordance with the Connecticut Student Data Privacy Act (CT PA 16-189), Conn. Gen. Stat. § 10-234aa, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
 

FERPA:

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.

COPPA:

Websites that are collecting information from children under the age of thirteen (13) are required to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). COPPA is enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
