Superintendent's Office
Doug Schuch began serving as Superintendent of Regional School District 13 in January 2021. He is an advocate of the national movement to transform our school-centered educational paradigm to a learner-centered model that empowers learners for future success.
Doug’s 28 years in public education have included a number of teaching and administrative assignments in Virginia. He most recently served as Superintendent of Bedford County Public Schools, a position he held since 2009. Doug was also active in the Virginia Association of School Superintendents, serving as President during the 2019-2020 school year, as well as an executive coach for new superintendents in Virginia and Connecticut. Additionally, he has served as an Adjunct Professor at Longwood University and the University of Mary Washington. In 2018, Doug was named Virginia’s Region 5 Superintendent of the Year.
Prior to starting his career as an educator, Doug served in the United States Navy and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He is married to Denise and has two daughters, Juliane and Emily.
